History

The Geiger ongoing series (Vol. 2, 2024–present) is the third chapter in a publishing arc that began with Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's original six-issue Geiger miniseries in 2021 through Mad Ghost Productions at Image Comics, followed by the two-issue prequel Geiger: Ground Zero (late 2023) that served as the bridge into Ghost Machine's formal launch. Ghost Machine itself — the creator-owned cooperative that Johns co-founded alongside Frank, Bryan Hitch, Jason Fabok, and others — was announced at New York Comic Con in October 2023, with all founding creators jointly owning the company, its characters, and any media or licensing revenue. The ongoing Vol. 2 series launched in April 2024 as one of Ghost Machine's flagship Unnamed titles, and Johns has stated that the introduction of Ashley Arden in issue #10 was planned from the very first issue of that run — meaning the Glowing Woman's debut was a long-range editorial commitment, not an opportunistic addition.
