The issue also marks the first full appearance and naming of Angelika — a previously unknown daughter of Demona who is mortal, unlike her mother — an addition that reshapes how readers understand Demona's emotional history and deepens the thematic contrast with Angela, the daughter already known from the TV series. The miniseries originated not with Weisman but with his original co-showrunner Frank Paur, who pitched the core idea and brought it to Weisman, after which the two plotted all five issues together before Weisman wrote the scripts. Paur had spent his career as an animator and director — with credits on the original Gargoyles, Batman: The Animated Series, X-Men: Evolution, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes — but had never drawn interior pages for a mainstream comic before this project, making Gargoyles: Demona #1 his comics page debut. The creative team was completed by colorist Robby Bevard, who had colored the earlier SLG-era Gargoyles comics, letterer Jeff Eckleberry, and editor Nate Cosby, with Disney as a licensing partner. The issue's physical release was delayed from its original May 28, 2025 street date after Dynamite severed ties with distributor Diamond; the physical edition ultimately reached stores on July 16, 2025, by which point Dynamite had moved to Lunar Distribution.
