G.I. Joe Comics Magazine #12
In "The Mountain!", Ripcord and Blowtorch take Spirit to the mall, only to stumble upon Fred II—whom Spirit insists is the real Fred I—enjoying an unexpected family outing. Meanwhile, Destro unveils his true face to the Baroness, and a shocking twist reveals Billy is Cobra Commander’s son, halting a deadly plot. With eight original Joes promoted to administration and Duke now full field commander, the team’s leadership shifts as Hawk rises to Full Commander and takes charge of the Pit. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Frank Springer, with inks by Andy Mushynsky, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Rick Parker, the issue’s cover by Mike Zeck and John Beatty captures the tension of a pivotal moment in the G.I. Joe ranks.
