A soldier receives a letter from his son Benny, whom he had not heard from in eight years after a plane crash in the Rockies two years prior. The letter reveals that Benny survived the crash and has been living in hiding, but the soldier discovers that Benny has already disappeared again by the time he learns of his survival. The soldier then encounters Meatball, a soldier from Baker Company, who has been searching for Benny in the hills after learning of his existence, and together they seek to locate the missing boy and reunite him with his father.
