This 2009 Top Cow/Marvel crossover event kicks off with a cover by Mike Choi that wastes no time making an impression: Iron Man and a cybernetically enhanced woman with glowing energy blasters charge forward, while a looming demonic figure and the green-skinned face of what appears to be the Leader lurk ominously in the background. The title says it all — Cyberforce, Hunter-Killer, the Avengers, and the Thunderbolts are all thrown into the mix for "Gods & Monsters," a three-part story written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with interior art by Tyler Kirkham. It's a genuinely ambitious inter-publisher mashup, and this first issue sets the stage with real visual energy.
