A cheerful snapshot of mid-1940s DC humor comics, this April 1947 issue of Funny Stuff features a cover by Otto Feuer where a startled cartoon bird gets an unexpected jab from a boxing-glove camera, while a grinning anthropomorphic frog operates the contraption — a "Fotos 10¢, Pictures with a Punch!" machine that lives up to its name. The gag is simple, perfectly timed, and drawn with that loose, springy energy that made funny-animal comics such a delight in this era. At a dime a copy, this was pure, unpretentious fun.
