Colonel Custer is out looking for more of the Sioux Indians along the Redbud River when he and his unit are surprised by a Sioux attack. One of his men, pretending he is dead, senses an Indian approaching, aiming to scalp him, but, instead wants only his cap. The soldier knocks out his enemy, retrieves the hat, and heads back to camp. Once there, he spots one of his fellow soldiers, dead, and finds himself surrounded by the Sioux. They seem friendly and even offer him a night's lodging in a tepee. He enters and spots the Indian he knocked out wearing a 7th Cavalry hat, armed with a tomahawk.
