“Now Hair This”

Outside the Bijou Theatre — its marquee advertising "The Shock of Your Life" and the supernatural thriller "Wier Wierdy" — a terrified young man and his unimpressed blonde date react in opposite directions as a mummy lurks on one side and a grinning Frankenstein's monster head is thrust into view on the other. Freddy himself is the prankster behind it all, barely containing his laughter as he schemes to ambush the couple with both monsters at once. Jon D'Agostino's cover captures the goofy, good-natured horror-comedy energy that made this Charlton series a fun read for 1959 audiences — and there are Giant Jackpot Prizes inside to sweeten the deal.
