A subsequent story involves a sorcerer who uses a transference spell to inhabit a young body, then abandons his old body in a mansion on the street; the rejuvenated villain is apprehended by police after attempting to rob banks with stolen money, and is ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment. Another tale follows explorers who discover a mysterious island with exotic flora and fauna, including strange spherical objects and unusual plant life with no animal life present, prompting wonder about whether they've discovered a new world and what lies further inland.
Rick Harris, a convicted swindler fresh out of prison, meets the mysterious sorcerer Moritius, who offers him a devil's bargain: draw lines on a mystical pentagon and receive wishes, but complete all five lines and his body becomes Moritius's vessel. Believing the scheme a con, Rick draws the first line and wishes for a million dollars—only to watch the money materialize before his eyes. As his newfound wealth begins to dwindle and temptation mounts, Rick returns to draw a second line, confident he can outwit the ancient practitioner before the pentagon is complete.
Dr. James arrived in Haiti twenty years ago as an idealistic physician, but his modern medicine proved powerless against the voodoo that grips the interior—and now the formidable Mere Karana has cursed him to waste away within three days for daring to challenge her power. Desperate and fading, Dr. James must find a way to survive the supernatural forces arrayed against him before time runs out.
World-renowned botanists Emil Sumner and Kurt Hagen stumble upon a forbidden island in the South Seas that supposedly fell from the sky—and discover an impossible wreath of plant life that defies every law of botany. When they track down the mysterious source and land on the island itself, they find themselves exploring a jungle of entirely unknown species, unaware that the very ground beneath their feet poses a threat unlike anything they've faced before. Racing against time and nature, the two scientists must figure out how to escape the island's deadly grip and decide whether its secrets are worth pursuing further.
