Banker Frederick Forbes vanished in 1867 with a great amount of the townspeoples' money. Nearly a hundred years later, his great-grandson agrees to undergo hypnosis to solve the mystery, and learns that it was accidental death, not villainy, that caused Forbes to disappear, and the money is finally recovered.
