Flashpoint: Project Superman #1
Part of DC's sprawling 2011 Flashpoint event, this first issue of the three-part miniseries kicks off Scott Snyder and Lowell Francis's exploration of the Flashpoint universe's twisted take on a Superman-related experiment. Gene Ha's cover sets the tone immediately — a pale, powerfully built figure in a dark bodysuit roars skyward, arms raised, as a city crumbles in fiery chaos around him, meteors streaking through a smoke-choked sky. It's a striking, unsettling image that promises a Superman mythos seen through a much darker lens.
