Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #2

Dynamite's 2012 reimagining of Flash Gordon continues with this visually arresting second chapter, subtitled "All Hail Ming!" — and the cover by Alex Ross and Paul Renaud makes an immediate impression. A golden, statuesque figure stands with back turned, flanked by enormous, looming visages wreathed in fire, while a column of rifle-bearing soldiers marches in lockstep across the foreground, their bayonets gleaming. Written by Eric Trautmann and Alex Ross, with art by Daniel Indro, this series clearly has grand, sweeping ambitions for one of science fiction's most enduring characters.
