Flash Gordon #7
Dynamite's 2014 run on Flash Gordon continues with issue #7, "Skyfall," and Marc Laming's cover sets a striking tone: Flash stands tall in layered brown feathered armor, large wings spread behind him and a horned helmet tucked under one arm, while a flock of dark birds wheels through a mountainous, cloud-swept sky. It's a confident, almost mythic portrait that suggests Flash has gone deep into the strange cultures of Mongo. With Jeff Parker writing, Evan Shaner on art, and Jordie Bellaire's distinctive colors inside, this series remains one of the more thoughtfully crafted adventure books of its year.
