Charlton's Fightin' Army #55 sets the tension high with a cover headline promising a story of Americans betrayed by "The Informer." The cover — penciled and inked by Dick Giordano, with Pat Masulli also on pencils — captures a desperate nighttime scene: a lone soldier caught in a blinding searchlight beam tries to flee while armed enemy figures in the foreground man a gun and shout a warning to come back. That stark contrast of the yellow spotlight against the dark backdrop gives the whole image an urgency that fits 1963's Cold War anxieties perfectly.
