FF #3
A central figure in a white Future Foundation uniform strains with visible anguish at the heart of Steve Epting and Daniel Acuña's striking cover, surrounded by a swirling blue montage of faces — some anguished, some fierce — along with cosmic and armored figures pressing in from below. Jonathan Hickman's 2011 run on FF was already building an ambitious, layered mythology, and this issue's title, "Whatever Happened to All Those Reeds?", hints at questions of identity and multiplication that the cover's crowd of figures captures perfectly. Paul Mounts' cool blue palette gives the whole composition an eerie, otherworldly tension that makes this a genuinely compelling chapter of Hickman's celebrated Fantastic Four era.
