Feral launched in March 2024 from Image Comics as a direct creative follow-up to Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner's surprise hit Stray Dogs (2021), which the pair conceived as a horror story filtered through the visual language of classic Disney-style animal animation. Fleecs has described Feral as a deliberate inversion of Stray Dogs' premise — trading an enclosed domestic space for a wide-open wilderness and swapping a human villain for an infectious, external threat — while keeping the same character-first storytelling philosophy. Tone Rodriguez and colorist Brad Simpson, both veterans of Stray Dogs, carried over to the ongoing series, giving the book a consistent visual continuity across all four arcs to date. Issue #19 falls in the middle of Arc 4 and was collected in Feral Vol. 4: Pet City TP (March 2026), published by Image Comics and distributed in book-market channels through Simon & Schuster.
