Feral is the creation of writer Tony Fleecs and artist Trish Forstner — the same team behind the breakout Image Comics horror series Stray Dogs — with additional art by Tone Rodriguez and colors by Brad Simpson, all four of whom had previously collaborated on Stray Dogs. The series launched in March 2024 under Image Comics, structured in five-issue arcs, with issue #12 opening Arc 3 in the February 2025 Previews catalog (order code FEB250504) and shipping April 30, 2025. Forstner, whose visual style draws heavily on classic 1980s–90s animation, brings a Don Bluth-influenced warmth to what is, in narrative terms, an unflinching animal-horror premise — a tension that has defined the series' identity from its debut.
