Efter ett myteri sköljs den 13:e Fantomen i land och stöter på ett folk som lever i trädtopparna och samlar opaler. Myteristerna följer efter, försöker stjäla opalerna och tar gisslan. Tillsammans med infödingarna tillverkar Fantomen en ballong för att överrumpla myteristerna på skeppet.
