Scott Goodall, MBE, was a British comics writer born on November 7, 1935, and died on March 7, 2016. He is best known for his long-running work on *The Phantom* newspaper strip and its various international editions, particularly for the Swedish *Fantomen* and Norwegian *Fantomet* series. Goodall entered the comics field in the mid-1960s and remained active for five decades, writing on 67 credited issues between 1965 and 2015. His most frequent credits appear in *Fantomen*, *Valiant and TV21*, *Fantomet*, *Battle Picture Weekly and Valiant*, and *TV21*. He collaborated with artists such as Kari Leppänen and Hans Lindahl on the Phantom stories, shaping the character’s adventures for European audiences. Goodall’s signature style balanced pulp adventure with a steady, workmanlike narrative drive, earning him a loyal readership. He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to comics. His legacy is that of a dedicated craftsman who helped sustain one of comics’ longest-running characters across multiple languages and decades, though specific awards beyond the MBE are not recorded in available sources.
