Fantastic Four #520

Fantastic Four #520 opens "Rising Storm," a four-part arc from the 2005 creative team of Mark Waid, Mike Wieringo, and Karl Kesel. Wieringo and Kesel's cover says everything about the scale of what's coming: a diminutive figure in a blue FF uniform stands defiantly atop the massive shoulder of Galactus, the world-devourer looming so large his helmeted head fills nearly the entire image against a star-flecked cosmic backdrop. The contrast between that lone human figure and the universe's most terrifying hunger is a genuinely compelling promise of the story ahead.
