“First Boots on the Ground”

In "First Boots on the Ground," the Fantastic Four—Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny—set foot on the alien world Zeta Doradus for the first time, accompanied by Franklin and Valeria, only to discover the planet’s surface hides deadly perils. As the team barely escapes a life-threatening trap thanks to Sue and Ben’s quick thinking, Reed grapples with a secret: a slow, fatal molecular decay he hasn’t shared with anyone, and the truth behind his mission may be more urgent than anyone suspects. Written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Mark Bagley, with inks by Mark Farmer, colors by Paul Mounts, and letters by Clayton Cowles, this issue features cover art by Bagley and Farmer.

Thirty-eight light years away from Earth, the Fantastic Four, along with Franklin and Valeria, are anxious to land on and explore the planet Zeta Doradus. Once there they find that it is an extremely dangerous trap, which they barely evade thanks to the efforts of Sue and Ben. Reed still hasn't told anyone of the deadly molecular decay that he, and soon quite possibly the rest of them, is experiencing, and that the real reason he decided to take the space tour was to find a cure.
