Fairest #2

Spinning out of the world of Fables, Fairest #2 arrives in June 2012 with a cover by Adam Hughes that frames a tense, intimate moment between a richly dressed prince and a red-haired woman in a deep purple gown, while a small winged blue imp hovers between them with a dagger — lending the scene an unsettling undercurrent beneath its fairy-tale elegance. The warm golden palette, thorny roses, and scrolling ribbon text all reinforce the series' enchanted-storybook atmosphere with a knowing, slightly dangerous edge. With Bill Willingham writing and Phil Jimenez on interior art, this second chapter of "Wide Awake" promises the same layered storytelling that made Fables such a compelling reimagining of classic tales.
