Fables #49

Part two of "Wolves" arrives in this July 2006 installment of Vertigo's five-time Eisner Award-winning series, with a cover by James Jean that commands immediate attention. A massive, smoke-dark wolf dominates the image — its single piercing yellow eye fixed outward — while a small human figure crouches vulnerably in the pale birch trees below, the scale between them deeply unsettling. Willingham, Buckingham, and Leialoha bring this arc to its close in what is, by any measure, a striking package.
