Fables #108

From Vertigo's long-running fairy-tale saga comes Fables #108, opening the "Inherit the Wind" arc with a cover by Joao Ruas that is quietly breathtaking. A vast, ancient figure — all flowing hair and beard rendered in soft, ethereal greens — dominates the composition, while several children are scattered around and against him, some clinging, some gazing, one lying dreamily above as an open book hovers at the center of it all. Writer Bill Willingham and artist Mark Buckingham, inked by Steve Leialoha, bring their signature depth to this October 2011 chapter, and Ruas's dreamlike imagery perfectly sets the mood for whatever wind is about to be inherited.
