Exciting Comics #37

Alex Schomburg's cover for this February 1945 issue puts the Black Terror front and center, smashing through Nazi anti-tank barriers with his fists while a U.S.A.-marked tank advances through a battlefield lit up with explosions behind him. A caped figure atop the tank surveys the chaos, and the whole scene crackles with the urgency of the war effort — right down to the "Buy War Bonds and Stamps for Victory!" reminder tucked in the corner. It's a vivid wartime snapshot of Pines' skull-and-crossbones hero doing what he does best, rendered in Schomburg's distinctively energetic style.
