Rahne's Revenge!" blazes across the top of this January 1996 X-Men Deluxe title, and the cover by Rick Leonardi and Terry Austin delivers on that promise with a genuinely unsettling image — a massive, snarling werewolf form dominates the foreground while a partially transformed, fang-baring figure clutches what appears to be a book near a gothic brick building in the background. Two alarmed women, one in a blue-and-yellow costume, scramble away in the lower right, selling the urgency of the moment beautifully. Warren Ellis is at the helm for "The Spire," making this a compelling chapter in Excalibur's mid-90s run.
