Part of Warren Ellis's run on Excalibur, this February 1996 issue kicks off "Days of Future Tense" with a cover by Casey Jones and Bob Wiacek that sets a genuinely unsettling tone. Captain Britain and a dark-haired woman race urgently through a ruined London — Big Ben looming behind them under a blood-red sky — while "Wanted" posters on the crumbling wall name Meggan and Wolfsbane among the hunted. The dystopian imagery promises exactly the kind of high-stakes, politically charged storytelling Ellis brought to the title.
