Excalibur #9
In "Saturday Night Fever Part 2 of 3: What Is the Life That Late I Led...?", Chris Claremont and Aaron Lopresti deliver a tense, character-driven chapter of Excalibur, where Magneto grapples with his daughter’s silence and calls on Xavier for help. As the Dark Beast flees a brutal ambush and Xavier uncovers a group of sickly children surviving in the ruins of Hammer Bay, the stakes rise for both mentor and healer—especially when even the wounded Dark Beast finds himself in need of medical care. The cover by Aaron Lopresti and Tim Townsend captures the series’ haunting mood, while the interior art by Lopresti, with inks by Greg Adams and Sean Parsons, brings emotional weight to every panel.

Magneto is at a loss as to how to help his unresponsive daughter, the Scarlet Witch, and sends for Xavier to help. Dark Beast and the Magistrates are raiding an old supply cache when they are attacked by a mysterious assailant who slaughters the humans. Xavier and Callisto find a group of children who have survived on their own since the destruction of Hammer Bay but they are sickly and Xavier wants McCoy to give them medical help. The Dark Beast needs a doctor himself, however, as he has been cut to pieces by an old acquaintance.
