Sugar Man
Sugar Man is a grotesque, diminutive mutant villain from the Age of Apocalypse timeline who crossed over into the main Marvel universe. A sadistic and dangerous figure, he became entangled with the X-Men and such characters as the Dark Beast, sharing origins in Apocalypse's brutal alternate world.
Lurking at the edges of Marvel's mutant universe since his 1996 debut in X-Men #48, Sugar Man is one of those deliciously unsettling figures that Scott Lobdell and Luke Ross unleashed on readers during the explosive Copper/Modern Age of comics. He moves through some of the X-Men's most charged corners β sharing pages with Hank McCoy, Erik Lehnsherr, Dark Beast, and Scott Summers β which tells you immediately that this is no ordinary background player. Spread across titles like X-Men and Excalibur and documented in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: X-Men - Age of Apocalypse 2005, Sugar Man has maintained a persistent, if cult, presence in Marvel's catalog for nearly three decades β the kind of character that rewards deep-cut collectors who love their mutant lore strange and shadowy.
