In "L'invincible Hulk," the dying Bruce Banner, stranded on a decompressing rocket hurtling back to Earth, transforms into the Hulk just in time to survive the descent. Once on the ground, he’s manipulated by the Sandman, who poses as his only friend and convinces him to attack General Ross’s missile base—using the chaos to steal military technology. When the truth finally dawns, the Hulk confronts the Sandman, defeats him, and vanishes into the wilderness before Ross and Betty can offer a moment of connection.
