Essential Uncanny X-Men #1 [Third Printing]
"X-Men" in Essential Uncanny X-Men #1 (Third Printing, 2003) delivers a standout moment in mutant history, spotlighting Beast’s dramatic departure from the team after a violent encounter with a hate-filled mob. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated with dynamic energy by Jack Kirby, with Chic Stone’s inks and S. Rosen’s lettering, the story follows Hank as he turns to professional wrestling—only to cross paths with Unus, a mutant immune to physical contact, who seeks to join Magneto’s Brotherhood. The X-Men must confront both Unus and Beast’s increasingly dangerous experiments, all while Bruce Timm’s striking cover captures the tension of this pivotal chapter.
