“Bain de sang”

"Bain de sang" delivers a chilling, meticulously drawn tale from Bernie Wrightson, whose singular art and storytelling craft a slow-burn descent into visceral horror. The story follows a woman whose routine bath becomes the stage for a brutal act of self-defense, only to be haunted by the unsettling return of her husband’s decomposed remains—now animated and seeking vengeance from the septic tank where he lies. The cover by Clyde Caldwell captures the story’s grim intimacy with haunting precision.

A woman who takes frequent baths is interrupted by her antagonistic husband who threatens to turn her shower off. She claws his eyes and he stumbles out of the shower striking his head on the sink and killing himself. She is grateful he died in the bathroom as it makes the process of dismembering his body so much easier and she enjoys flushing it straight down the toilet. Then one day enjoying her bath the decomposed remains of the husband animate and return for revenge upon his wife by bringing her into the septic tank to stay with him.
