“Empyre [Part One]”

"Empyre [Part One]" kicks off a galaxy-spanning clash with a shocking twist: the Avengers, allied with the Cotati against the Kree/Skull fleet, are blindsided when the Fantastic Four stand with the invaders and Hulkling—once a Young Avenger—now rules the merged Skrull and Kree empire. Written by Al Ewing and Dan Slott, with bold, dynamic art by Valerio Schiti and colors by Marte Gracia, the issue unfolds with high stakes and unexpected alliances. The cover by Jim Cheung captures the epic scale of the conflict, setting the stage for a story where loyalty is tested and the true enemy may be closer than anyone thought.

Having allied themselves with the Cotati against the oncoming menace of the Kree / Skull fleet, the Avengers are stunned to find that the Fantastic Four are supporting the invaders, and that former Young Avenger Hulkling is now the Emperor of the united Skrull and Kree peoples. The new Emperor doesn't want a fight, but he has to handle rival factions around him. The Avengers realize that they have been tricked by Quoi, the Celestial Messiah, and have helped him unleash a deadly Cotati weapon against the other side.
