About this Collection

This collection presents the Marvel Illustrated adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel Emma. The story follows the well-meaning but meddlesome Emma Woodhouse as she navigates matchmaking and social missteps in Regency-era England. This volume collects the entire adaptation in a single edition.

In this 2011 Marvel issue of Emma, Jane Austen and Nancy Butler deliver a sharp, character-driven story where Emma’s sharp tongue lands her in hot water after a cutting remark to Miss Bates—only to be called out by the ever-principled Mr. Knightley. The tension builds as Emma grapples with the revelation of Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax’s secret engagement, while mistakenly believing Mr. Knightley might be courting Harriet, all leading to a moment that changes everything. Janet K. Lee handles every aspect of the interior art, from pencils to inks and colors, with a distinctive touch, and her cover art captures the story’s emotional weight with quiet precision.
