Emma #4 (2011) delivers a sharp, character-driven turn in Jane Austen’s reimagined world, where social expectations and unspoken feelings tangle in the quiet drama of Highbury. With Janet K. Lee handling every aspect of the interior art and cover, the issue captures the subtle tensions between Emma, Mr. Knightley, and the ever-watchful Mrs. Elton, all while hinting at Frank Churchill’s shifting affections.

The new Mrs. Elton is found by many to be petty, grasping, and rude, yet they must endure her company for the sake of propriety. Emma decides that Frank Churchill might be better suited to a match with Harriet Smith than to Emma herself. Mr. Knightley, however, is of the opinion that Frank is inclined in a completely different direction.
