Later, Egbert attempts an elaborate con involving a glittering gold brick painted to look valuable, claiming it's pirate's gold with a treasure map, hoping to sell it for fifty dollars. The scheme backfires when the intended victim turns out to be smarter than expected, and Egbert ends up with the fake gold brick himself, which he discovers in his attic along with an actual map.
