However, his scheme goes awry when a real thief arrives and steals the woman's diamonds, which have been hidden in candy. Egbert is caught by police and ends up in jail, while the real thief escapes with the loot. In a secondary story, "Beanie Bear," Mr. Gazook invites Beanie Bear to join the Cub Scouts' pot luck supper, but Beanie must decline due to a prior engagement studying Eskimos at the museum.
