Egbert, a character-actor trying to find work in Hollywood, discovers an opportunity when a film director needs a muscular man for a movie role. Egbert takes over a film production after finding the original muscle man unsuitable, and later gets involved in a race and wrestling match while pursuing his acting ambitions. Throughout the story, Egbert's schemes backfire repeatedly, leaving him broke and struggling to find legitimate ways to earn money as he learns that his amateur wrestling promotions and other ventures frequently result in dishonest dealings.
