The source novel, Dune: House Corrino (2001), was the third installment of the Prelude to Dune trilogy written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson using notes left behind by Frank Herbert after his 1986 death, and it debuted at #8 on the New York Times Best Seller list. BOOM! Studios announced the eight-issue comic adaptation in February 2024, deliberately timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two, completing a publisher initiative that had already adapted House Atreides (2020–2021, 12 issues) and House Harkonnen (2023, 12 issues). The adaptation is unusual in that the original authors — Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson — scripted the comics themselves, with series editor Shantel LaRocque overseeing the project at BOOM! Studios; the art duties on issue #7 were shared between primary series artist Simone Ragazzoni and Francesco Mazzoli, with Dan Jackson on colors and Ed Dukeshire on letters.
