History

The Dynamite Entertainment DuckTales series — of which #7 is a part — was announced on July 23, 2024, debuted with issue #1 on November 6, 2024, and is the fourth comic series based on the 1987 animated show. Editor Nate Cosby reached out to writer Brandon Montclare (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Rocket Girl) specifically because of his all-ages pedigree, and Montclare in turn worked from full scripts with Italian artist Tommaso Ronda, a veteran of European Disney comic production whose studio background meant he arrived fluent in the visual language of the Duck universe from page one. The first five issues deliberately focused on the 'core four' — Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie — in a story arc titled 'Four Corners of Your World,' and Montclare publicly signaled that subsequent issues would widen the cast; issue #7 is the payoff of that promise. The series carries on a creative philosophy rooted in the 1987 cartoon's own DNA, which itself drew from Carl Barks and Don Rosa, with Montclare describing the book as 'a love letter to the 1987 show (and the comics that inspired it).'
