The Dynamite Entertainment DuckTales series was announced on July 23, 2024, and launched in November 2024 — the first original canon project set in the 1987 Disney Afternoon continuity since the cancellation of Joe Books' Darkwing Duck comic, and the first new DuckTales project of any kind since the DuckTales Remastered video game in 2013. Editor Nate Cosby recruited Brandon Montclare — known for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and Rocket Girl at Marvel — to write the series, paired with Italian artist Tommaso Ronda, whose background in Disney duck comics for the European market gave the collaboration an immediate stylistic fluency. The first five issues (arc: 'Four Corners of Your World') focused tightly on Scrooge and the nephews in Duckburg, with Montclare and Ronda openly stating their intention to expand the cast and locations once that foundation was established; issue #8, solicited for August 2025 and previewed in November 2025, is the direct fruit of that plan, pushing the action off-planet.
