Editor Nate Cosby approached writer Brandon Montclare — known for co-creating Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur at Marvel and Rocket Girl at Image — after admiring his all-ages storytelling sensibilities; Montclare immediately agreed when DuckTales was named as the property. Cosby paired him with Italian artist Tommaso Ronda, who had extensive experience producing Disney duck comics for the European market, giving the series an international creative pedigree that echoes the franchise's long global history. The series launched with issue #1 on November 6, 2024, and the arc building toward issue #5 suffered notable scheduling difficulties, with a four-month gap opening between issues #4 and #5 before the story finally concluded on July 30, 2025.
