“Doomwar Part 3”

The chilling genius of Doctor Doom takes center stage on John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson's cover, where an armored Doom looms over a giant chessboard, manipulating the pieces — his golden Doombots — like a grandmaster playing for world domination. Scattered across the board as his opposition are recognizable Marvel powerhouses including Wolverine, Colossus, a figure in black with blades drawn, and the ever-rocky Thing, all dwarfed by Doom's towering presence. Jonathan Maberry and Scot Eaton's third chapter of this six-part 2010 limited series promises a high-stakes struggle where the heroes are very much pieces in someone else's game.
