This Vertigo-era Doom Patrol issue carries the subtitle "A Fable of Reconstruction," and Kyle Baker's cover delivers something genuinely strange and memorable: a tall, ethereal figure with wild dark hair and a crimson headdress looms over two grotesque, wide-mouthed creature-like beings, all rendered against a vivid red background with an eerie luminous glow at the center. Rachel Pollack's writing and the Pander Bros.' interior art bring "The Dogs of Soul" to a title that was never afraid to venture into surreal territory, and this 1994 installment looks like no exception.
