Robotman dominates this September 1992 issue of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol, rendered on the cover by Tom Taggart as a weathered, rust-streaked assemblage of gears, bolts, and salvaged machinery — his glowing green eyes cutting through the decay with unsettling intensity. Clutched in his mechanical hand is a hefty "Blast-O-Matic" toy gun, a strange collision of childhood whimsy and industrial menace that feels perfectly at home in Morrison's surrealist corner of the DC Universe. With interior art by Richard Case and Stan Woch, "Dying Inside" promises the kind of beautifully strange storytelling that made this run one of comics' most adventurous.
