“Brick by Brick, Part 3: It's a Doom World After All”

Part of DC's Young Animal imprint, Doom Patrol #3 (2017) continues Gerard Way and Nick Derington's wonderfully strange reinvention of this beloved team. The cover, illustrated by Derington with colors by Tamra Bonvillain, depicts a young woman gazing upward as a fuzzy, wide-eyed pink creature dangles a vintage comic book — a 1937 issue of Danny Comics — tantalizingly above her face. It's a quietly surreal image that captures exactly the kind of off-kilter charm this series brings to the DC Young Animal line.
