History

Editor Alanna Smith tasked incoming writer Derek Landy — an Irish author best known for his bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant YA novels and prior Marvel credits including Captain America/Iron Man and Infinity Watch — with relocating Strange to Asgard as the foundational premise, a directive Landy has publicly described as the key that made the assignment feel viable rather than daunting. Artist Carlos Magno, whose Marvel résumé includes Thunderbolts, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America, brought a grounded, architecturally detailed visual approach to Asgard that deliberately avoided the gleaming splendor of traditional depictions in favor of shadowy alleys and a grittier street-level reality, a tonal choice Magno himself articulated in pre-publication interviews. Colorist Espen Grundetjern and letterer Cory Petit — who had also lettered Donny Cates's earlier Doctor Strange run — completed the creative team. The five-issue limited series was branded as a One World Under Doom tie-in, though reviewers broadly noted the issue's connection to that event is marginal at best, with the narrative functioning more as a direct epilogue to Blood Hunt.
