“Lift High the Veil of Fears!”

Frank Brunner's cover for this 1975 installment of Doctor Strange: Master of the Mystic Arts is a genuinely arresting piece of supernatural drama — the Sorcerer Supreme crouches in his billowing crimson Cloak of Levitation, fingers poised as a tide of skulls, serpents, and snarling creatures surges between him and a commanding dark-haired woman in green robes who stands luminous against a full moon, arms outstretched with unmistakable power. Winged bat-creatures wheel overhead, and the whole composition pulses with eerie menace that feels perfectly suited to a story titled "Lift High the Veil of Fears!" Gene Colan and Klaus Janson bring that same atmospheric energy to the interior, making this a strong entry in one of Marvel's most visually distinctive titles of the decade.
