Doctor Strange #17

Doctor Strange is in dire straits on Kevin Nowlan's cover for issue #17 — the Sorcerer Supreme is half-submerged in a dark, roiling mass of nightmare, surrounded by gnashing mouths, clusters of disembodied eyes, and a pale featureless face looming nearby, while Strange himself strains and cries out, his arm outstretched in desperate defiance. The title "State of Misery" says it plainly: this is Stephen Strange pushed to his absolute limits, stripped of his usual composure and fighting through something deeply unsettling. Jason Aaron and Frazer Irving's 2017 run continues to put the Sorcerer Supreme through the wringer, and this issue looks like no exception.
