“Death in Silver!”

Marvel's Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze #3 (1973) puts the bronze-skinned titan in serious jeopardy, with Jim Steranko's cover depicting a bare-chested Doc Savage crouching defiantly atop a giant world map while completely surrounded by silver-armored cultists brandishing spears. Looming above them all is a caped, masked figure — apparently the leader called Ull — commanding the mob to strike, making it instantly clear that "The Cult of the Silver Death's-Head" is no ordinary threat. It's a visually striking composition from Steranko that makes "Death in Silver!" feel like exactly the kind of globe-spanning pulp adventure Doc Savage was born for.
